What is computer
forensics -
Computer forensics is a methodology used to
identify, acquire and preserve evidence found on
electronic or magnetic devices such as
computers, CD-ROMS and floppy diskettes.
Can any computer
professional provide this service
- Only a trained computer forensic
practitioner will have the skills and
credentials necessary to perform a successful
examination within the standards accepted in a
court of law.
A qualified examiner will not alter a single
byte of original computer data during the course
of their examination. Simply turning on a computer
(a common mistake made by well meaning computer
technicians) may destroy potentially
important evidence. |
